			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img alt="ifill.jpg" src="http://www.englib.info/archives/ifill.jpg" width="70" height="102" align="left" />A quick note about the speaker tonight at SLA: <a href="http://archive.salon.com/people/conv/2000/12/18/ifill/">Gwen Ifill</a>, <a href="http://www.pbs.org/weta/washingtonweek/">Washington Week</a> <a href="http://www.pbs.org/weta/washingtonweek/gwen/">Managing Editor</a> and <a href="http://www.pbs.org/newshour/aboutus/bio_ifill.html">senior correspondent</a> for <a href="http://www.pbs.org/newshour/">The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer</a>.</p>
<p>Ms Ifill spoke about on the current state of Journalism. An interesting observation was how the huge growth in news sources intensifies the public responsibility to choose competent outlets. Ifill spoke how her experience in journalism helped her learn the difference between skepticism and cynicism. She pointed out that journalists, not just politicians, need to held responsible for what they report.</p>
