Encyclopedic Dictionary of Applied Geophysics free online until the end of the year

October 13th, 2005 3:37 pm | by Catherine Lavallee-Welch

Access to the online version of the Encyclopedic Dictionary of Applied Geophysics, fourth edition, by Robert E. Sheriff, is free through 31 December 2005. The dictionary “defines terms used by geophysicists in a wide range of applications – in the search for oil and gas, coal, water, and other natural resources; in natural disaster prediction and preparedness; in geotechnical engineering; for environmental analyses; and other investigations of the earth’s subsurface.”

In 2006, the Dictionary will be available to institutions and individual subscribers, and through membership in the Society of Exploration Geophysicists. The Dictionary is also included in subscriptions to the SEG Digital Library.
